Kazuho Matcha Whisk (数穗)

Kazuho Matcha Whisk (数穗)

£42.00

The Kazuho Chasen (数穗) is one of the most versatile and widely appreciated styles of traditional Japanese matcha whisk. With a tine count between 60 and 80 tines, it is favored by both beginners and experienced tea practitioners. Whether preparing a bowl of everyday usucha or a more concentrated koicha, it delivers excellent control, consistency, and a refined matcha experience.

Handcrafted in Nara, Japan, the birthplace of chasen craftsmanship, each whisk is carved from a single piece of natural bamboo using techniques refined over centuries. The carefully balanced tine structure provides the perfect combination of flexibility and strength, allowing it to perform beautifully across a wide range of matcha preparation styles.

Why Choose a Nara-Made Chasen?

Nara's Takayama region has been the heart of Japanese chasen craftsmanship for over 500 years. Whisks made by local artisans are prized for their flexibility, durability, and precise workmanship, preserving a tradition recognized as a Japanese traditional craft.

Care Instructions

Before first use, soak the whisk tips in warm water for 30s-1 minute to soften the bamboo and help prevent breakage.

After use, rinse thoroughly with water only, do not use soap or detergents. Allow the whisk to air dry in a well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight. For best results, store on a whisk holder (kusenaoshi) to help maintain its shape.
