Japanese Matcha Latte Recipe

Craving something creamy, calming, and a little bit magical? This matcha latte recipe has you covered. Hot or iced, you’ll learn how to whisk up a perfectly smooth cup using authentic Uji matcha from Kyoto.

Hot Matcha Latte Recipe 

Ingredients:

  • 1–2 tsp matcha (3g recommended)

  • 30–50 ml hot water (75–80°C, not boiling water!)

  • 180–220 ml milk (dairy or plant-based)

  • Optional (sugar, honey, vanilla syrup)

Instructions:

  1. Sift matcha into a bowl to remove clumps

  2. Add hot water and whisk for 20s until smooth and foamy

  3. Heat and froth the milk

  4. Pour the milk into your cup first, then layer the whisked matcha on top

  5. Stir gently and enjoy warm

Iced Matcha Latte Recipe 

Ingredients:

  • 1–2 tsp matcha (2-3g)

  • 30–50 ml water (75-80°C, not boiling water)

  • 200–250 ml cold milk

  • Ice

Instructions:

  1. Sift matcha into a cup.

  2. Add hot water and whisk until completely smooth.

  3. Fill the glass with ice.

  4. Add cold milk.

  5. Pour matcha on top for a layered look.

  6. Stir before drinking, and voilà!

Other tips: 
  • For a lower-calorie version, use semi-skimmed milk or any unsweetened milk alternative. Skip sugar, honey, or syrups to enjoy the pure flavour of matcha.
